Barely lucid, 4:30 a.m. SFO. Shawn sweetly saw me off. It's a long story, but we got stuck in Guyaquil for the night since we couldn't land in Quito. Very happy to finally get to our hotel in Quito the next day. After two days of institutional ham sandwiches at the airport, we kind of overdid it as soon as we got to a restaurant. Although we didn't get to see much of Quito, we got to stay in a sweet little place. We were now able to relax... ...and smell the Ecuadorian roses.

I did some knitting in anticipation of the islands' 90-degree weather.
