what is Cormac like?
Funny. Quick to laugh. A total tough-guy. (He will fall down, scrape his knees, hit his head, and not even flinch.) Adoring of his brother (yet, he loves to provoke him, too). In constant motion. A fervent animal lover. All boy. Demanding. (He wants this toy. And he wants it now!) Very huggy. Frequently bossy. Apologetic when he gets fussy. (He will hug and pat you after throwing a tantrum.) Not shy whatsoever. Likes babies--tries to offer them his bobo and coos over them. But it's all about the big kids. He stumbles around, chasing them, trying to keep up. A great eater. Loud. Happy. Utterly adorable.

my boys
Sometimes I look at these guys and think, I totally can't believe that I'm looking at my two boys right now. It's like looking into the future or something, because I have convinced myself that I will be 22 forever.

bye-bye, curls
These adorable curls were approaching mullet territory, so they had to go. But, oh! I will miss them!

a Pittsburgh visit
We went to visit Grandpa and Grandma in Pittsburgh this weekend, and the boys had a blast. They rode bikes, went to the aviary, and splashed in the pool. Here are the photos from right before we left—pick your fave. They make a great series.

in the firetruck
It's hard to go to a festival in the city during the summer, and not be invited inside a fire truck.

a dance party with Ruby and Porter
dance fever from lisa hazen on Vimeo.
Finn was beyond thrilled that we got to spend the evening over at Ruby's for a cookout yesterday. Here are Ruby and Finn, dancing for us, and Porter and Cormac doing back-up.
Some memorable quotes:
[While Ruby goes through her closet, showing Finn her dresses, one-by-one]
FINN: Come ON, Ruby! Just pick a dress and let's go outside.
[After she changes into her new dress...]
FINN: Well, you do look like a beautiful princess now.
[While they are sitting, coloring after dinner...]
RUBY: Finn, what do you think it will be like when we get married?
FINN: I think about that a lot. I can see you doing the dishes in the kitchen, and I'm standing there, talking to you.

constant motion
Wonder why these photos are blurry? Because this child never stops moving. My favorite one is the second one, because Santos is just sitting there, waiting for him to drop some food. In all of these, he's saying "cheese" for the camera.

Finn with the adopted neighborhood cat
This kitty belongs to a family one street away. But lately, she's been coming to visit a lot, which just thrills Finn. He usually doesn't get a chance to pet cats, as most run when they see a young boy barreling towards them. But this one even makes our dear Santos look standoffish in comparison—she nuzzles, purrs, follows you around, and gets right in your lap. She even lets Cormac pet her—an enormous leap of faith.
I really hope that both Finn and Cormac never lose this love of animals that they have. They really adore all animals and just light up when they see one. Finn is very nurturing—when we visited a farm, we met a three-legged cat who was also blind. Finn fed him by hand, left a trail of food to his water dish (so he could find it), and was just so kind of gentle with them. Cormac's first word was literally "dog-dog" and he still goes nuts whenever he sees one on the street, pointing, waving, and saying "awwwww."
